Useful Websites
- Alfredo M. Graphics Graphics taken from illuminated manuscripts.
Great stuff! You'll see more than a few of their graphics used on this website.
- Create Bar Codes Creating UPC barcodes for the back of CDs is a
nuisance—if they're not done right, the retailer won't be able to scan them; meanwhile, software to generate them is generally
oriented towards folks who need to create zillions of them—and priced accordingly. (I've tried several of the
$49-ish solutions—I couldn't get them to do the job.) This company will generate the one UPC barcode you need for a CD for
$10—no fuss, no muss. It's an eps file, so it resizes without degradation.
- CombiNumerals The '©' copyright symbol is easy enough
to find, but the '(p)' copyright symbol (that should be a circle also) for 'phono recordings' —required by law if you want
to copyright the recording itself—
is amazingly difficult to find. But the CombiNumerals font (freeware) consists of each of the capital letters in a circle,
so it does the job nicely!
William's Other Websites
- GlassArmonica.com Devoted to the musical instrument invented by
Benjamin Franklin.
- ZeitlerBits.com Devoted to technical stuff that folks might
find useful.
- AllTheScales.org The 'musical scale' is a very fundamental building block of music.
Turns out, out of the 1490 possible scales (based—essentially—on the piano keyboard (equal tempered)
tuning and steps no larger than a major third) that Western music has only used a couple dozen so far. Not only
does this site list them all, you can click on them and hear them! Intended to get composers'
creative juices flowing. (Mine too!)
- FaithfulBible.com The translation of the New Testament from the original Greek that
I did long ago.
